GOLDEN VISA PORTUGAL THROUGH PROPERTY INVESTMENT
The Portugal Golden Visa program has proven to be the most popular scheme in Europe with investors attracted to its flexibility and benefits. Launched in 2012 the investor visa program has been actively promoted internationally by the Portuguese government. An investment of €500,000 (or €350,000 reduced option) in real estate in Portugal will gain a residency permit for a family including dependent children. The golden visa can be renewed every two years providing the applicant spends two weeks in the country every two years.
CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT MALTA
The Malta Citizenship Investment Scheme known as the Malta Individual Investor Programme (MIIP) is aimed at ultra high net worth individuals. Individual investors must make a minimum contribution of €650,000 to the national development fund set up by the government, invest €150,000 in government approved financial instruments and commit to a residence in Malta, either rent or purchase, for a minimum of 5 years. The property value for purchased real estate needs to be a minimum €350,000. For rental it is a commitment of €16,000 pa. Each family member also has to contribute a sum to the development fund of €25,000 each. The benefits after one years’ residency are citizenship and a Maltese second passport. This in turn grants European citizenship and the ability to live, work and study anywhere in the EU.
CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT TURKEY
Turkey announced its citizenship by investment programme in 2016. It grants residency, citizenship and a second passport to applicants investing either in real estate or a bank deposit. The real estate route is particularly attractive for investors.
This requires a property purchase of a minimum of $250,000 + fees, making Turkey one of the lowest cost citizenship by investment programmes on the market. The real estate investment amount was originally set at $1 million but was drastically reduced in September 2018.
A Turkish passport allows visa free travel (or visa on arrival) to 114 countries worldwide. Turkey also holds out the possibility of eventual visa free access to the EU. GOLDEN VISA GREECE OFFERING RESIDENCY WITHOUT CITIZENSHIP
Launched in July 2013 the Greek golden visa programme grants a five year residency visa in return for an investment in real estate. There is no minimum stay requirement and children up to the age of 21 are included in the family application. The visa is granted for five years and renewed every five years if the property investment is retained. It is not necessary to live in the country in order to retain and renew the investor visa.

GRENADA CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT
The citizenship by investment programme for Grenada is one of the newest programmes available to investors.
The Grenada investment visa programme provides second citizenship in Grenada and a passport to investors offering visa-free travel to over 143 countries including the UK, EU Schengen countries and China.
Grenada also offers access for its citizens to the USA E2 treaty investor visa.
Applicants need to invest either $150,000 as a donation or $350,000 in a government approved real estate project (can be reduced to $220,000 for connected investors) and maintain the property investment in Grenada for at least 5 years.
CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT ST. LUCIA
The government of St. Lucia launched its citizenship by investment programme on 1st January 2016.
A qualifying investment must satisfy the minimum investment level in either the Saint Lucia National Economic Fund or an approved real estate project.
The current minimum investments for donation to the fund are set at $100,000 for a single applicant,
$165,000 for a couple and $190,000 for a family of four. For real estate the minimum is set at $300,000 for the main applicant. In May 2020 a temporary bond offering was launched offering an option starting at $300,000 for a single applicant with return of capital in five years.

VANUATU CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT PROGRAM

DOMINICA CITIZENSHIP BY INVESTMENT
Citizenship by investment in Dominica is available through two options.
The first is by making an economic contribution (donation) to the country under the government’s investor visa programme. The second option available since January 2015 is through real estate investment. Dominica has become one of the most affordable and flexible second passport programmes available. Until 1993 it was not possible to gain Dominican citizenship without residing in the country. The Dominican government changed that with the Economic Dominica Citizenship programme whereby the need for residency to gain citizenship was waived.
